Saro makes the trek to sunny california

Tracy and I recently had the opportunity to launch distribution of SARO Cider in California. California has so much to offer in terms of attractions, history, culture, and natural beauty. During our recent visit we had the opportunity to share SARO ciders with wonderful people in San Jose, San Francisco, Palm Springs, Santa Monica, and Los Angeles.

San Jose is located in the heart of Silicon Valley and is home to some of the world’s leading technology companies like Apple, Google, and Facebook as well as the mysterious Winchester Mystery House, a unique and bizarre mansion with strange features like staircases that lead nowhere and doors that open to brick walls. The city is an interesting blend of the old and new, with historic buildings and modern architecture coexisting side by side. During our visit to San Jose, we had a wonderful time meeting the owner and staff of The Cider Junction who were kind enough to post images of some of our non-alcoholic ciders on their Instagram account! We enjoyed flights of ciders as well as their gluten free loaded tater tots. We got to meet the friendly folks at Total Wine and More and nearly sold out of SARO Botanical Cider in the first two days!

While in San Francisco, we were able to visit the Golden Gate, successfully navigate Lombard Street, and enjoy gluten free food at Miraposa Baking Company at the Terminal Building. No need to apply sunblock while in SanFran, I heard that the sun came out a couple years ago and people lost their minds.

Next, we headed to Palm Springs and enjoyed seeing the sun in the sky while visiting bars and restaurants along El Paseo. SARO Jalapeño Cider was particularly popular, which was no surprise with so many great Mexican eateries in the Coachella Valley.

In Santa Monica, I got to spend a couple of early mornings surfing with our daughter at Sunrise (wetsuits a must – the water is chilllllly) and spent the afternoons visiting fantastic bars and restaurants like Ester Wine Bar and Bottle Shop (where SARO Botanical Cider was well liked) and Blue Plate Tacos on Ocean Avenue as well as pouring SARO Cider at Total Wine and More in Long Beach and Redondo Beach. Tracy was able put in some time on the swings on the beach near the Santa Monica Pier.  There are so many great places to go, but if you are in the L.A. area, Breadblok is a must visit – a dedicated gluten-free French bakery!

My visit to San Jose, San Francisco, Palm Springs, Santa Monica, and Los Angeles was a memorable one and I can’t wait to see more people in California enjoy our take on cider. Each city had its unique charm, character, and traffic, and I loved exploring the various attractions and experiencing the local culture. California truly has something for everyone, including SARO Cider, and I can’t wait to visit again.
