SARO CIDER WINS BEST BREW AT SIP NEBRASKA

Lincoln, Nebraska – Saro Cider was voted best brew by consumers attending the ninth annual SIP Nebraska last week in Haymarket Park. The win is more remarkable because Saro Cider is Nebraska’s only cider-only beverage business. Yep, read that one again: Saro Cider beat out the breweries pouring at this annual event. Two of the favored ciders Saro poured were their Spiced Apple and Sour Whiskey Cherry.

When asked how it feels to beat out some excellent local breweries, Head Cider Maker Chris Ganshert answered, “There are a lot of great beverage makers out there, and we are honored to be considered one of them. It shows that Lincoln & Omaha are commending us for producing quality cider – something we take a lot of pride in doing. Not many people know that because we do not add sugar and leave our ciders unfiltered, the flavor really shines through.”

SIP Nebraska is bi-annual celebration of Nebraska’s beverage industry. The event is held every fall at Haymarket Park and spring at Mahoney State Park. According to their website, the event is an opportunity for consumers to taste local, Wine, Beer, and Spirits. While cider is not considered a wine, is not technically a beer or even remotely close to spirits, it is classified as a beer for tax purposes in this state. “We like to say, if wine and beer were to have a baby, you’d get cider,” says owner, Tracy Sanford.

Saro makes unfiltered craft cider right here in Nebraska. Unfiltered means Saro does not add chemicals.  Saro also does not add sugar, crafting a cider that is not too sweet but rich in flavor.  And, of course, Saro Ciders are gluten-free because that is why they started this business in the first place. Saro, which rhymes with arrow, is a small business powered mostly by women and encourages everyone to try new things and explore more. Learn more at www.sarocider.com or by following them on Instagram or Facebook
